Imported Task Not Showing as Call Logged?

I imported task records manually using Data Loader, expecting them to appear as “Call Logged.” However, after the import, they are only showing as “Task Created.”
Why is this happening, and how can I ensure that imported tasks reflect the correct status?

According to Salesforce Support, this behavior is working as designed. The “Call Logged” label is typically applied when a task is created through the Salesforce UI using the “Log a Call” action. However, when tasks are imported via Data Loader, they are treated as standard task records and do not automatically receive the “Call Logged” designation.
To work around this, you can ensure that the Subject and TaskSubtype fields are correctly set during import. The TaskSubtype field helps differentiate standard tasks from logged calls. You can try setting TaskSubtype = 'Call' in your CSV file before importing.
If Salesforce does not currently support this behavior for Data Loader imports, a possible solution is to update the imported records afterward using a Salesforce flow, process builder, or Apex trigger to modify the TaskSubtype field based on criteria such as the Subject containing “Call.”
For long-term improvements, Salesforce recommends submitting an idea to the Salesforce Idea Exchange to request a feature enhancement in future releases.
